What is Med Saturday?
Med Saturday is an event co-hosted by Phi Delta Epsilon and STEM Society. We have combined our respective strengths in medicine and outreach. This event is being held in honor of Noah Cutler, a past STEM Society president and PhiDE member who passed away in 2020. This event is similar to STEM Saturday, but focuses specifically on medicine. This event will bring in students from southeast Michigan and give them the tools they may need to pursue a career in medicine. The day will have an emphasis on mental health and well-being, especially when it comes to the demands of school, as that was a topic that Noah was very passionate about.
Dates and Times
The event date is to be determined for Fall 2022. PhiDE members will plan with guidance on logistics and how to design lessons and host this event from STEM Society. Due to the pandemic, it will be held virtually. The organization distributed boxes with supplies to the students and they will have synchronous Zoom participation on lessons covering various medicine-related projects.
Contact Information
While STEM Society is not actively requiring members to participate in Med Saturday, members are able to submit videos and be involved in the process. PhiDE, a premed fraternity on campus, is hosting the event. STEM Society trains and supports the members but does not actively host or the promote event. For more information on Med Saturday and how to get involved, please contact the fraternity from their website linked below.
